Q-C-Q #5
A quote that stood out to me is on page 2 of the Berry article. “I have no quarrel with Barry…we choose to write on a computer.” This is said in the letter by James Rhoads in reply to Berry’s opinions in the article. It stood out to me because it is a great summarization of why Berry’s article had such a negative reception by readers. Berry’s reasoning for not buying a computer are all tinged with superiority to tech users.
There is a connection between the Stillman and Nieman articles. Both pieces discuss the effects of AI on art, though with differing views. Stillman says that “With AI taking over more routine…is set to rise.” Nieman states that, “It seems inevitable that a computer chip will generate more awe-inspiring drawing than I do.” While both articles agree that AI will have a great impact on our world, Stillman believes it will cause the rise of art degrees while Nieman thinks it will take away work from artists.
Which prediction do you think will most likely become true, Nieman’s or Stillman’s.
