The quote that stood out to me was, “Then again, those words may be as famous as they are only because Hemingway lifted them for his book title.” I found this important because it shows how often the influenced work becomes more known than the original. I had never even heard of the famous writing by Donne before, but I knew of the book. The credit sometimes never goes to who created it first, but the most popular. Most people see this as Hemingway’s words and not Donne’s. 

The part of the passage about how a creation is often used for another purpose after it is sold relates to the world today. Lots of art is made from something else, like Lethem’s example of a book of his being turned into an art piece. I’ve seen art in museums that uses pictures or even recycling to create something new.
